YoB&E: Day 151--No Joke with Herry

It's a year ago this month that we lost Jerry Nelson, so I thought it would be nice to try to focus on sketches that feature his characters this month. He portrayed Mr. Ice Cream Cone Man in a sketch featured last week, and here's one with him as Herry, a character that rivals Telly in underappreciation.

Herry plays a joke on Ernie

Poor Ernie; he's really having an off day, isn't he? I kind of wish there had been a sequel to this sketch in which someone makes Ernie STOP saying "no."

I read a book recently called Memoirs of a Muppet Writer by Joseph A Bailey who, as suggested by the title, was a writer for Sesame Street and The Muppet Show during the '70s and '80s. When discussing Herry Monster, he said his name was pronounced like a combination of, or something in between, the words "hairy" and "Harry". Which confused me very much because, at least in my dialect, "hairy" and "Harry" are homophones.
