I've discussed in the past how disturbed I am that Memorial Day is more often observed now as a festivity rather than a solemnity.
PBS knows that it's not all about parties and picnics and shopping, that Memorial Day is supposed to be a time to remember those who have gone before and paved the way for us. On Friday night they broadcast the Lincoln Awards, and on Sunday they broadcast the National Memorial Day Concert live from Washington, DC.
Apparently, Kristi Noem doesn't think it's important to honor veterans. I wonder why.
