Of course, Jim meant FILMING Peter Falk, not gunning him down. His cameo in The Great Muppet Caper wasn't THAT bad! (rimshot)
Given the number of Muppet fans who laud The Great Muppet Caper as a flawless masterpiece of cinematic comedy, I'm glad to see that at least one person (and a Henson Company employee, at that) agrees with my assessment that certain parts of the movie are "arbitrary" and "[do] little to move the action along." Thank you. Now I feel vindicated.
Also, it's encouraging to find out that Jim Henson also had difficulty coming up with titles for Muppet movie sequels. I laughed really hard at the suggestion: For Muppets Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Connection Is Not Enough. It wasn't a good suggestion,1 mind you, but it made me laugh really hard.
1 I mean, imagine how it might have been truncated to fit on the marquees: "Muppets...Suicide..."??? Ugh.
It would have been better if it had said "Multicolored Muppets" and then found some sort of innocuous substitute for "suicide," like "pie in the face" or something. But even then, it probably would have been too cumbersome and artsy for a mainstream audience.
